Clubs
There’s an eclectic mix of lively bars and nightclubs to be found around Mallorca to accommodate its equally diverse clientele. From young holiday-makers to yachting millionaires and everyone in between, you will find a bar to suit. The capital city Palma is the main hub as it is lively all year round, but the beach resorts provide plenty of bar and club choices when they come alive in the summer months.
Palma – Year-Round Partying
A city bursting with life 365 days of the year, Palma offers something for everyone when it comes to nightlife. Take a stroll around the Old Town, La Llonja and Santa Catalina to find the liveliest places, you’ll stumble upon an abundance of local haunts that are open seven days a week. In the summertime, you cannot miss the buzz from the Paseo Marítimo down by the marina, with music blaring out from the mile-long stretch of bars and crowds of people overflowing onto the streets. There are also a number of British, Germans and Swedish in the city, so you have plenty of opportunities to rub shoulders with fellow expats if this is what you want. Palma is also home to many yacht crews (or ‘yachties’) who keep the bars alive throughout the year.
Palma Old Town is generally considered to be the area around the cathedral, up to Placa d’Espanya. This area consists mainly of shops, but there are some neighbourhoods that you should explore if you are looking for bars that the Spanish frequent. There are some decent cocktail bars around Placa Mercat, whilst more authentic bars like Bar Espana and Molta Barra are up by Placa Major. You’ll get some good tapas in these bars too.
In La Llonja, across Passeig Borne from the cathedral, there is a wider selection of international style bars. The tiny pedestrianised streets of Carrer de Jaume Ferrer, Sant Joan, La Llotja and Apuntadors are filled with small, independent bars with quirky interiors and friendly bar staff. It’s worth exploring these alleys and seeing what you stumble upon. El Neo Gastro Bar has some of the best cocktails in the city, whilst Opio has DJ’s and a party vibe. Bar Abaco should also be on your bucket list, it’s one of Palma’s most illustrious bars famous for its beautiful courtyard setting. Agua is a Palma institution and hosts regular live rock music nights. Just up from here is Placa Drassana which is lined with bars and restaurants and is popular with yacht crews. For a quieter more sophisticated experience you will find more than enough classy cocktail lounges and patios within the boutique hotels in the area. De Tokio a Lima Restaurant & Bar, located inside Can Alomar Boutique Hotel on the famous shopping street Passeig des Born, is a great choice, as are Sant Francesc Hotel and Tres Boutique Hotel.
Another hot spot for nightlife in Palma is Santa Catalina. This district is just across Avinguda Argentina and has a great selection of international bars and restaurants. This is where you will find locals and expats alike overflowing onto the streets outside of LAB Cocktail Bar, La Havana Club and Hostal Cuba Bar, all within walking distance of each other. There are many bars in the area that offer quirky décor and innovative drinks menus, try Vintage Santa Catalina Cafe & Bar or Chakra Bar. Special mention to Ginbo, the original and best Gin Bar in Palma, you’ll find it at the top of Avinguda Jaume III.
The bars in the old town tend to stay open until 1am or 2am, so if you are looking to extend your night, you’ll have to head down towards the marina.
Beach Resorts – Summertime Fun
Mallorca’s beach resorts liven up during the summer months. Within the notorious area of Magaluf in the south-west of the island, you will find streets lined with bars and clubs geared for those looking to party at all hours of the day and night during the peak holiday season. Whilst Magaluf is going through a revamp to transform it into a family-friendly resort, there are still enough bars to keep people coming back for more. S’Arenal (or Playa de Palma) is also a hotspot for night owls looking for a party in the summer months, attracting mainly the German youth. Port d’Alcudia in the north is probably the liveliest place in the area to play at night. There’s a good selection of restaurants by the marina and a complex of music bars and nightclubs that are popular with visitors on Avinguda Tucan. Some of the other, smaller beach resorts such as Cala Ratjada, Santa Ponsa and Colonia St Jordi also have late bars and clubs that will keep you satisfied for one or two nights of your holiday.
Marinas & Ports – Luxury Nightlife
Some of the smarter marinas are bustling places to be during the summer months and tend to host the better quality restaurants and bars. The harbours provide a beautiful backdrop to dining al fresco. After dinner, you’ll find just enough late-night bars with the odd dancefloor to keep visitors of all ages entertained. Port Adriano, Puerto Portals, Cala d’Or, Port de Soller and Port d’Andratx fall into this category.
Fiestas & Festivals – Summer Parties
During the summer, many of the resorts and villages hold fiestas, and during these, there is generally one or two nights dedicated to live music, parties and fireworks. These are great fun and should form part of your holiday experience! Look out for any fiestas that are on during your stay by checking our Events Calendar when you arrive.

If you’re someone who likes to quench your thirst from the luxury of a comfy lounger or sunbed throughout the afternoon and into the early evening sunshine, then head to one of Mallorca’s beach bars or beach clubs.
Palma & Playa de Palma
Palma has some great spots for pre-dinner cocktails with a view. Head to Es Baluard Museum Bar or the Sky Bar above Hostal Cuba for a luxury feel and fantastic scenery as they overlook Palma Marina. These two bars, located a stone’s throw away from the marina, attract a mixture of clientele but certainly offer an exclusive feel. For a closer peek at the magnificent superyachts why not try Chiliss No.3 Bar & Restaurant or the more elegant, yet pricey, Port Blanc Restaurant & Bar? Just along the coast from Palma towards Playa de Palma, you will find Purobeach Club and Anima Beach Club, for that beach club vibe. Playa de Palma itself is a lively resort hosting a couple of places where you can sip on cocktails throughout the afternoon. Nova Beach Park has a mini golf course if you want to try your hand at mini golf in the glowing evening sunlight. To escape the masses for a quiet paradise setting head to the luxury yet inconspicuous Mhares Sea Club which is further east from Playa de Palma.
South-west Mallorca
Heading away from Palma along the western coastline there are a variety of sun-drenched beach bars and beach clubs to visit. Cala Major beach resort, just to the west of Palma, has a couple of popular beach hut style bars. Zhero Beach Club, whilst not on the beach, has its own swimming pool, DJ and cocktails. The creators of Purobeach have opened a new beach club in Illetes which has a lovely setting right on the sea front. The Balneario Illetas beachside restaurant is also here and is a convenient spot to sip on a cocktail whilst the sun is setting. In the prestigious area around Puerto Portals, you will find the relaxed Roxy’s Beach Bar set amongst the rocks at the end of Portals Beach. Also by Puerto Portals is Mood Beach Club, one of the most exclusive beach clubs on the island that attracts visitors year round.
Palma Nova has the best of both worlds with beach hut Il Chiringo Beach Bar & Restaurant and the sassier Chi Lounge Bar. Magaluf hosts the world famous Nikki Beach Club, a hotspot where the rich and famous come to enjoy luxury service and entertainment. The signature Nikki Beach experience with theatrical displays and impeccable service have made this one of the most renowned beach clubs on the island. For a surfer vibe, head to Wave House Mallorca which has a Flow Rider artificial wave machine where you can learn to surf like a pro, or just sit and watch others whilst you relax in one of the chill-out areas. Alternatively, Oceans Beach Club and the BCM Hotel are the hot spots in the area, offering a lively atmosphere without the hefty price tag.
Port Adriano’s Coast Restaurant & Bar has its own intimate and exclusive beach club with a swimming pool, cocktails and sun loungers. Further up the western coast, near Port d’Andratx, resides the Gran Folies Beach Club in Cala Llamp a well-established beach club with an affluent and loyal following.
Alcúdia Bay
Heading north into the Bay of Alcúdia, Ponderosa Beach Club stands out from the crowd along Playa de Muro thanks to its driftwood beach bar vibe. Royal Beach Bar & Restaurant is the place to visit for a more sophisticated yet trendy experience with its restaurant and lounge bar.
Late nights
The Spanish like to party. As a rule, the party-goers on the island head to clubs well after midnight and can be found dancing until the sun rises the next morning. Whether you are 18 years old or in retirement, sometimes you just fancy taking your evening to the next level. So, if you are looking for a big night out, here are some of the places you should head to in Mallorca.
Palma Nightclubs
During the summer, most of Palma’s bars in the Old Town will open until around 2am. If you find yourself wanting to then go dancing the night away then head to Santa Catalina or down to the marina. Santa Catalina has several bars and clubs that open until 5am, try La Demence for clubbing, Kaelum for classic party tunes, or Brooklyn Club for DJ mixes. Down by the marina along the Paseo Marítimo there is a good selection of nightclubs, so look out for the kind of music they are playing that evening to see if it suits your party. For a more casual bar-club atmosphere with cheaper drinks, go to the small marina of Can Barbara, just up the road from Tito’s club. Garito Cafe Bar and Made in Brasil both also located here and might be just the places for you. These establishments are also open throughout the winter.
Magaluf & Playa de Palma
Places like Magaluf and Playa de Palma attract the youngsters thanks to the densely populated area of bars and clubs selling cheap drinks and hosting themed party nights. Megapark is worth a visit if you find yourself in Playa de Palma (S’Arenal).
Puerto Portals & Port Adriano
The ports are great destinations for a late night. It is a common occurrence for people to hit the terraced bars of Key West and Ritzi after an evening meal in the glamorous marina of Puerto Portals. Port Adriano has a few chilled-out bars and its own nightclub, Uppereast, a place to rub shoulders with visiting megayacht owners.
Port d’Andratx & Port de Pollença
Port d’Andratx has more of a Spanish feel and encompasses a few late night bars as well as Barracuda nightclub, a typical Spanish discoteca. Late night bars are the way to go in Port de Pollença, although many find themselves guilty of being on the dancefloor in Chivas at the end of the evening.
Deia & Port de Soller
You may not expect the idyllic village of Deia to have much of a nightife, and you’d be right, but there is a bar here that is renowned for it’s impromtu parties and live music sessions – Sa Fonda. It has a lovely outdoor terrace overlooking the main street and stays open late if the crowd is right. A newcomer to Deia is Nama Bar. It’s been designed by Matthew Williamson and serves sophisticated cocktails in sexy surroundings. Port de Soller has plenty of bars and restaurants that follow the beach promenade around the bay. One of these restaurants, Altamar, has a club that’s open on selected dates and through the summer season.
Cala d’Or & Colonia de Sant Jordi
In Cala D’Or, Faras nightclub has enough going on to keep the locals and tourists equally happy. Laos Club in Colònia Sant Jordi is set in a three-storey modern complex and provides a more sophisticated vibe.
Cala Millor & Manacor
The east coast of the island is not so famous for its nightlife. If you find yourself in Cala Millor, La Havana Nightclub is the place to let loose and throw some shapes. In Manacor, Es Pop nightclub is always good for some late-night fun as is Bauxa, a rustic bar-nightclub.
